BCCI May Cancel India-NZ Series
The BCCI board may cancel the on-going India-New Zealand series after its bank accounts were frozen by the Lodha Committee. This is because the board failed to implement the committee’s recommendations
BCCI may call off the on-going India-NZ series following Justice LM Lodha committee’s directions to freeze the bank accounts of the board. Failing to implement the committee’s recommendations, the BCCI might cancel one test and five ODIs between India and New Zealand, BCCI sources said.
The committee had written a letter to the banks stating to cease BCCI accounts which stated, “you are hereby directed not to take any steps towards financial disbursement of the amounts as resolved/approved after the direction dated 31.8.2016. Any violation of this direction will be placed before the Hon’ble Supreme Court for appropriate directions.”
A senior board official said, they don’t want India to be humiliated in front of the world. “How can we function, how can we hold any games now? Who will make the payment? Freezing a bank account is no joke. An international team is here, and there is so much at stake,” he said.
